Botulinumtoxin
Indikation
Dynamic wrinkles such as worry lines, forehead wrinkles, "crow's feet"
What is botulinum toxin and how does it work?
Botulinumtoxin is produced by a bacterium, Clostridium botulinum. Injected into muscles the substance blocks nerval impulses and selectively relaxes the muscle so that a contraction is prevented. This process is called cosmetic enervation. Other nerval qualities such as sensibility of the skin are not affected.
Due to the selective inhibition of particular muscles the overlying skin relaxes and is freed form permanent mechanical (muscular) alteration. Mainly used for worry lines, the effect is seen after 3-5 days and will last for 3-6 months after the first treatment. The duration of the result is increased with repetetive applications, so that one will need lessinjections over a given period of time, owing to the specific muscles becoming weaker.
Our experience
Botulinum toxin A (Dysport®, Botox®, Vistabel®, Xeomin®) is a very safe and effective drug. It has been used for many years not only in cosmetic surgery but also for other indications in dermatology and neurology. The specific use in the treatment of wrinkles such as worry lines and crow's feet represents a solely cosmetic procedure which is proven to give very satisfactory results.Crow's feet (wrinkles around the eyes) - the skin around the eyes is much more delicate than in other areas of the body and tends to age more rapidly. Botulinum toxin application works to restore the skin naturally, reducing the appearance of fine lines and wrinkles.
